The lives of countless at-risk youngsters have been enriched beyond measure as the grandparent volunteers lend a helping hand to foster character development, cultivate life skillfulness, promote educational growth and hearten an overall sense of well being.
For over 35 years Foster Grandparent volunteers have served our local communities personifying the spirit of kindness, humanity and compassionate service.
Foster Grandparent Volunteers:
- comfort babies and children recuperating at Children's Hospital Central California
- support children attending EOC's Head Start and FIRM's Pre-School programs, assist them in building social skills and help them establish a foundation of literacy prior to beginning Kindergarten
- inspire school age children's enthusiasm for learning while assisting in elementary and middle classrooms, Boys & Girls Clubs, and EOC's School Age Child Care Centers.
- instill hope in the hearts of young people at EOC's Sanctuary youth shelter and School of Unlimited Learning, Marjaree Mason Center, and The Holy Cross Center for Women
- guide minors detained at Fresno County Juvenile Hall in the direction of self-discipline and self-esteem
EOC's Foster Grandparent Program offers volunteers a small stipend, transportation reimbursement and unlimited opportunity for joyful personal fulfillment.
Eligibility:
- 60 Years of Age and Over
- dedicated to 15 + hours per week of Volunteer Service
- income meets program guidelines
